Jyotisar
The Village
It is here in this Village called the Jyotisar, the great Hindu Epic
Geeta was spoken. It is believed that under the great Banyan tree (5000
yrs old) which stands to till this date, Lord Krishna gave enlightenment to
the warrior Arjuna, which there upon came to be known as Geeta. In order to
signify this a chariot stands under the Banyan Tree. There is also a Shiva
Temple which is sheltered by the Banyan Tree. A light and music show is also
held here in the evening every day.
Jyotisar Village is located in Kurukshetra - The ground where the great war
of Mahabhatrata was held. There are around 1000 households here mainly
working in the agriculture and cattle rearing fields. People speak Haryanvi
and Punjabi. English and Hindi come as secondary language. Makai di roti and
Sarson ki dal are the main coarse food here.

The Great Banyan Tree
It is there, the 5000 yrs old banyan tree where the Hindu Gyandarshnam
- Bhagvat Geeta was spoken. It is still revered with a number of
devotess coming from all over the country to have a glimpse of it. You
too should go.

Mahabharata
If you want to see where the war of Mahabharata was held, then this is
the place where you should go. Though you won't find many relics of
those days here, but then its the earth of this place, people go to
touch and put on their forehead.

Art and Craft
Dari making, folk painting, pottery making, and wood carving are the
main artifacts of Jyotisar village. Its a religious place and most of
the activities carried out here are in the religious sense only.
Local People
People of Jyotisar are devotess of Lord Krishna. They devote most of
their time in prayer of the Lord. There isn't much other activity
involved.The Ras Leelas are the main attraction of Jyotisar.Matress
making, wood carving, traditional pottey and folk painting are a part of
this heritage village.Basket making and bejan making is also done here.

Arjuna took a dip before getting the knowledge of Geeta. Its a religious
place where people from all over the world come to take a dip during the

Prince Arjuna the Gyan Darshan of Holy Bhagvat Geeta.
» Maa Bhadrakali Shaktipeeth : The simple yet beautiful
temple of Goddess Maa Bhadrakali.
»Sheikh Chillis Tomb : This tomb is in the name of the
person who is supposed to be the most Stuip man on earth.
»Harsh Ka Tila - Archelogical Site : If you are interested
in seeing the fossils, then this is the place to visit.
»Bhishma Kund : The God Fire howls here, a place to see the
fiereness of fire.
»Srikrishan Temple : The beautiful temple of Lord Krishna.
